About the winemaker

"After my student days, I took over my parents' winery with my husband Dodo. Since then, the family estate has 12 hectares of vineyards that sprawl along the winding broad Rhine river. Since 1971, we have been a member of the VDP (Verband Deutscher Prädikats- und Qualitätsweingüter) and since then we have really started to focus on the quality of our wines and exporting them."

Riesling is Germany's most coveted grape, perhaps even the world's. This grape may join the armoury of any experienced sommelier. This grape knows how to combine a dose of mouth-filling fruit with a fine acidity to take many dishes to the next level. This is a top-class Riesling and falls under the VDP classification as 'Erste Lage'. These are the true premium Riesling wines, in which you really taste the specific terroir of Rheingau. Grapes of 'Erste Lage' wines are therefore always hand-picked and often come from a single vineyard. You can compare the quality of these wines to a Premier Cru in Burgundy.
