About the winemaker

“In addition to being a winemaker, I am also a general practitioner and am known (by my family) for my home-made bread. We make the wine together with the whole family. Because we work biodynamically, our entire life revolves around health and nature. We pick by hand, use native yeasts and the wine goes into the bottle unfiltered. The icing on the cake is that after years of innovation and hard work, we have received the biodynamic Demeter quality mark!”

8,5
Beter? Nee, frisser." (2017 vintage)

Corbières, France
Les Corbières is the mountain massif in the south of France, in the Languedoc-Roussillon. In recent years, some winemakers have started a small natural wine revolution, and this wine is a perfect example of that. It consists of two parts, grenache and carignan. The grenache is firm, robust, heat-resistant and intensely fruity. It has a thin skin and ripens for a long time to achieve a high sugar level. For this variant, at La Baronne they distance themselves from 'the standard Grenache story' of a strong wine with a lot of alcohol in the leading role. A more juicy blend was chosen with carignan, a drinkable variant full of fresh, sour, juicy cherries.
