About the winemaker

"My favorite moment to drink Beaujolais is during a get together with friends, and family, charcuterie and cheese. This has been our tradition for generations. Our Gamay is particularly well-suited for this occasion. It offers freshness, juiciness, and a generous amount of red fruit flavors. Cheers to that!"

It's great to see the rapidly growing popularity of red Beaujolais. It's a shame that the prices have also skyrocketed. There used to be a lot of joy to be found in a bottle for around ten euros, and sometimes even sensational ones for just a few euros more. Nowadays, it seems that models priced between 20 and 30 euros are more the norm than the exception. But fear not, because that's where Grapedistrict comes in. They are not ones to boast about PC Hooft price tags. And do try their humble, organic Beaujolais that sings with delight, juiciness, and happiness. In return, we cheer for the price tag that doesn't even reach ten euros.

Beaujolais, France
Duke of Burgundy Philip the Bold was not particularly fond of Gamay as it posed a threat to his favorite Pinot Noir. Under the pretext of it being "harmful to health," he banished Gamay from Burgundy to the southern region of Beaujolais in 1395. Fortunately, his successors did not let it end there, and Gamay made a comeback not long after. And it has proven itself quite deserving. Fresh and fruity, light in color, with summery flavors and aromas of strawberries, raspberries, cherries, and sometimes even banana. Gamay is the perfect partner in crime for a charcuterie board in the sun or a variety of dishes. It's a true "cool climate fan" that can be enjoyed chilled due to its gentle tannins.
