About the winemaker

"As a proud Sicilian, I'm eager to show how delicious my island is. For this project, I selected a few vineyards that are characteristic. They are situated at an altitude between 350-450 meters, and they benefit from a fresh sea breeze. Additionally, I age the wine in barrels made from local acacia wood. By adding minimal sulfites, more life remains in the wine. This way, you can taste the island in its purest form."

Sicily is a remarkable place. Not only for its beautiful beaches, Mount Etna, or delicious food; it's also an excellent wine region. The soil is rich in volcanic minerals, there's a sea breeze that provides warmth in the winter, and it's sunny. Less known is that the island has more than 20 sub-regions and over 65 indigenous grape varieties. It's no wonder that it's currently very popular among sommeliers due to the wines made from local grape varieties. Catarratto is one of these truly Sicilian grape varieties. In fact, it's the most planted variety on the island. It thrives on the relatively high vineyards and fresh sea breezes. It's a grape that reveals the skill of a good winemaker. When the Catarratto plant produces too many grapes, the wines can easily become watery. Only by strict pruning and limiting yields, the true flavors emerge!
