About the winemaker

"As the responsible winemaker at Quinta Porrais, I am part of a special history: in fact, this winery is part of the legacy of Antónia Adelaide Ferreirinha. She is a Portuguese legend when it comes to innovation in the Portuguese wine world. So the bar has been set high! To ensure the quality of this Porrais Branco, we harvest, select and destem by hand."

Douro, Portugal
The Douro valley is known for its steep slopes and rocky soil. On those steep slopes are many terraced vineyards. About half of these vineyards are for port production. The rest are for production of ordinary wines. Indigenous grape varieties call the shots in this wine region and this blend of rabigato, códega do lorinho, viosinho and verdelho reflects that. Rabigato has high acidity and lends itself well to blends, whereas códega do lorinho gives tropical aromas. Viosinho gives the wine power and verdelho is a grape with a high sugar content that we often find in white port. All these different aromas complement each other perfectly in this wine full of minerality, citrus fruit and soft flavours.
