Bodegas Pentecostes Albariño
Rías baixas, Spain
Albarino

About the winemaker
“I try to make wines that are representative of the area, wines that express the 'terroir'. For me, this means making wines with as little intervention as possible. I like to take good care of my vineyard so that the quality of the grapes is good. That is why I look for the perfect ripening and we make strict selections. Fortunately, the Albariño is a very grateful variety, in good or bad years it always shows its face. It is not without reason that he is the king of the Rías Baixas.”

Rías baixas, Spain
The Rías Baixas is located in the southern part of Galicia, just above Portugal. Most vineyards are located close to the wild, green coast and the vines can withstand the harsh maritime climate and sometimes heavy rain showers. The entire region produces almost exclusively white wine. Most grape vines grow on a soil of lime, chalk and rock rubble. This is different in the Miñor Valley. Here you will find a lot of granite in the vineyards, which means that a lot of minerality can always be recognized in the wines. The Albariño grape is the king of this valley. The grape has a thick skin, so it can withstand the strong sea wind and bright sun.
