About the winemaker

We have actually only been working with the brother-and-sister duo Nicollo and Virginia for two years, but one thing is certain: we are fans. This dynamic pair puts a very distinctive spin on the classic Chianti region. When we asked them to create a special cuvée for our anniversary, they embraced the challenge with both hands, resulting in this fantastic wine.

Niccolo rossetti

9
9/10 points - De Grote Hamersma
"Brother and sister Niccolo and Virginia Rossetti took over their grandfather’s winery — and he would surely be proud of them. We have already tasted their white wines made from Ansonica and Vermentino and gave them our approval. Their red wines are equally impressive. We know their Chianti, which they previously produced using the Governo method — a traditional Tuscan winemaking technique in which partially dried grapes are added to the fermenting wine. This results in a fuller, rounder, fruitier, and more complex wine. This anniversary edition is put together differently. No dried fruit here, but juicy Sangiovese, which — aged in used barrels — is joined by the international varieties Syrah and Merlot. The result is a blend that shines with vibrant red fruit. Red cherries tumble, berries burst, a touch of plum and blackberry, all tied together with a lifeline that gives the palate structure and grip thanks to precise acidity."

Chianti, located in beautiful Tuscany, is one of Italy’s most renowned wine regions. This idyllic area spans the provinces of Florence, Siena, Arezzo, Pisa, Pistoia, and Prato. The region is known for its rolling hills, olive groves, and medieval villages. The landscape of Chianti is a picturesque scene of vineyards and historic castles. The history of Chianti wines dates back to Etruscan and Roman times. In 1716, Chianti became one of the first wine regions in the world to receive official recognition, thanks to a decree by the Grand Duke of Tuscany, Cosimo III de’ Medici.
