Everyone knows the Primitivo grape, after all it is super popular. What fewer people know is that this was not the case at all for a long time, in fact: entire vineyards full of primitivo grapes were cleared. Yet at Cantina de Falco they have been working with this grape variety for more than 50 years. The winery is located just outside the city of Lecce. The house was once founded by Salvatore Falco, the grandfather of the current owner Gabriele. She mainly tries to continue the family tradition. The average age of the vines is therefore around 30 years. This gives the wines their typical concentration. Furthermore, they avoid new wood as much as possible and they strive for an elegant style. According to Gabriele, the pure fruit must be able to speak.
