Il Classico Nero di Troia

Puglia, Italy
Nero di troia
Nero di Troia is a somewhat unknown grape. The name does not come from Troy, but from the small town of Troia. Below the vineyards there are natural tunnels full of minerals that give the wine freshness in addition to rich fruit.

About the winemaker

“You can find our winery in Castellana Grotte, a village that has become famous for its labyrinth of underground caves. Over millions of years, sea and rainwater have carved out these beautiful tunnels in the limestone. So, it's a unique underground environment. When you emerge from the Castellana caves, you must taste our wines. Besides being full-bodied and concentrated, they have a touch of limestone minerals.”

★ Sterwijn!

If you want to immerse yourself in the Italy of old, you shouldn't be in the tourist-packed Rome or Venice, but in Puglia. In the heel of the Italian boot, you'll find the most beautiful towns, piazzas, and untouched nature. It's hot here, very hot! The Sirocco (the famous southern wind) brings nighttime temperature drops, allowing the grapes to recover from the high daytime temperatures and maintain their freshness. The primitivo grapes that grow here can withstand the intense sun and, thanks to their thick skins, retain acidity and develop incredibly dark and concentrated fruit.

Goede prijs/kwaliteit. Spannender dan de primitivo. Lekker om zo te drinken.
