About the winemaker

"After winning Olympic bronze with water polo, my husband Alberto hung up his swimming trunks. Together we now love spending all day in Gavi, in the countryside, where we're in the company of our children, dogs, cat and my horse. We want to let the special terroir of Piedmont speak in our wines and express the power of nature. We limit our ecological footprint as much as possible and we decided a few years ago to go completely organic with the aim of making this purest Gavi di Gavi possible."

Goede keuze. Want houdt daar probleemloos zijn hoofd boven water. Ook dit verse oogstjaar weer een delicate, zacht-bittere, fijn geparfumeerde bianco met giebelende zuren (what’s in a name?), krokant wit fruit, perzikbezoek, speeddatende peren, rozemarijn, een bewijs van anijs en een zweempje groen. Verder helemaal groen: want bio.

Besides the famous Barolo and Barbaresco, Piedmont also has a lot of interesting white wines to offer. In the hills in southern Piedmont lies the area of Gavi, named after the town of the same name. It is a small appellation, accounting for only 2 percent of Piedmont's total wine production. Gavi is made from cortese, a grape beloved among connoisseurs for its exciting acidity, good structure and minerality. In the aroma, you often discover yellow apple, plums, melon and lemon, and in the fresh taste the typical Italian almond bitterness. A fantastic wine with seafood but also perfect with pasta pesto.
