Nando Jantar Orange
Primorska
, Slovenia
Friulano
Right on the border between Slovenia and Italy, winemaker Andrej proves that orange wines can be at least as complex as Burgundy. His Friulano is aged in amphora, resulting in a surprisingly elegant wine full of tropical fruit, smoky minerals, and tension.

About the winemaker
"I followed in my grandfather's footsteps, who was also a winemaker. He's also the namesake of the winery: Nando. My vineyards are located in a unique part of Slovenia, right on the border with Italy. Here, fresh Alpine winds alternate with warm, salty sea air from the Adriatic. This gives my wines ripe, almost tropical aromas as well as freshness and elegance."

Primorska, Slovenia
Primorska lies in the far west of Slovenia, right on the border with Friuli. Wine has been produced here for centuries, first by the Romans, later under Venetian and Habsburg rule. This blend of cultures is still evident in the vineyards: Mediterranean influences by the sea, Alpine freshness from the mountains. The marl and limestone soils retain water and impart that characteristic mineral tension to the wines. In this border region, winemaker Andrej uses traditional methods to create wines using local grapes like Friulano. His orange wine, Jantar, is an ode to the land and its history: techniques he learned from his grandfather, but now completely modern!
