About the winemaker

“Agiorgitiko: This grape variety is the flagship of the Greek red grapes. You can make all kinds of different styles of wine with it. Lower vineyards produce juicy, light wines. Fortunately, there is no shortage of altitude in the Peloponnese because it is at its best around 500 meters. The syrah and merlot again come from higher altitudes for more freshness and fruit.”

Peloponnesos, Greece
The history of the Peloponnese and wine goes back a long way: Homer already described the peninsula in the 8th century BC as 'Ampeloessa', which is ancient Greek for 'full of vines'. Today it is still the largest wine region in Greece. The landscape is rolling and the subsoil consists of sand and clay. In addition, the vineyards are located relatively high. Ideal for the agiorgitiko grape. This grape is the most widely planted red grape in Greece and can be used for all kinds of different styles of wine. On low-lying vineyards he often produces simple and light red wines or rosé. While with a little more height, sturdy, complex wines can be made.

A great Greek wine - needs some breathing but after that very smooth - blackberry, plum, cherry, pepper and spice. Could use a bit more length on the finish, but great nevertheless.
