“Quinta das Arcas is a true family business. In 1985 we produced our first Arca Nova wines. Since then we have continued to develop and work more sustainably. For example, we harvest by hand. In 2012 we produced our first certified organic wine, which I am very proud of. My favorite wine after a day of picking grapes in the vineyard? Our thirst-quenching Arca Nova Vinho Verde!”

Vinho verde, Portugal
The DOC Vinho Verde is the largest wine region in Portugal and runs from the Minho river in the north to Porto in the south. It is a rainy region where the grapes grow quickly and develop little sugar. Thanks to this ripening process and the early harvest in the summer, the wines have a lower alcohol percentage and a characteristic fresh style. The ‘Verde’ in the name is a reference to this early (green) harvest.
