About the winemaker
"The story of Quinta da Pôpa began with my grandfather, Francisco Ferreira. His nickname was Pôpa. Eventually, my father renamed the estate Quinta da Pôpa, as a tribute to the man who taught him everything about winemaking. Fortunately, my sister and I, as the third generation, can still rely on my father’s knowledge when it comes to running our family estate."

Douro, Portugal

The Douro Valley in Portugal is one of the most legendary wine regions in the world. The region is located in the northeast of Portugal, surrounded by the Marão and Montemuro mountains, and stretches across thirteen municipalities—from the Spanish border to just a few kilometers from the city of Porto. It is also a wine region that can be enjoyed even without a glass of wine. The landscape here has even been granted UNESCO status. No other wine region has been shaped by humans quite like the Douro Valley. As far back as Roman times, terraces were carved into the hard rock along the river to improve sun exposure.
