Rinaldi Eramare Cortese

"Eramare" means "there was sea." Millions of years ago, there was an ocean where the vineyards are now located. Winemaker Andrea still benefits from this because his Cortese wine is full of tension and minerality.

About the winemaker

“My family has been in the vineyards on our homeland in Piedmont for generations. Even though I have taken over from my father, he is an integral part of the winery. Here, we produce classic Nebbiolos, Barberas, Moscato d'Asti, and, of course, Cortese. This grape variety is similar to the more famous Gavi wines, but on our prehistoric seabeds, it reveals its most exciting side.”

"Eramare.

The name Cortese may raise some eyebrows for some, but most people will recognize Gavi di Gavi. However, Cortese is the quiet force behind the popularity of this famous wine. It's not surprising that this grape is used to produce excellent wines in other parts of Piedmont. This variety has been cultivated for hundreds of years in the southeastern part of Piedmont and has been documented since the 17th century. It was also considered the best white grape in Piedmont for a long time. Nowadays, Arneis, thanks to a quality boost from modern techniques, has taken the popularity prize. What a shame, as the Cortese grape is more than worth discovering.

Heel erg lekker!
