Andrea Rinaldi Moscato d'Asti DOCG

Rinaldi Moscato d'Asti DOCG

Piemonte, Italy
Moscato
In which category does this moscato fit? On its own, its light mousse entitles it to a place among bubbles, but with its fresh-sweet taste, it also fits nicely among the selection of sweeter wines.

About the winemaker

My family has been in the vineyards on our native soil for generations. I recently took over from my father. In addition to the classic nebbiolos and barberas, we also make this Moscato d'Asti together. Slightly sweet, a fine sparkle and refined summer fruit. Ideal for lunch, a cheese board or as an easily digestible alternative to heavy dessert wine.

92 punten - Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate
“Each year, one of the finest Moscatos comes from Rinaldi, and the fabulous label and hilarious reference to “bug juice” only adds to the fun. This light-bodied, low alcohol (4-5%) Moscato is bursting with notes of honeysuckle, lychee nuts, peaches, mangoes and spring flowers. The intoxicatingly intense aromatics are followed by a wine with some residual sugar, although that component is well-balanced by the wine’s acidity and freshness. ”

Moscato d'Asti comes from the province of Piemonte in northern Italy. This area is particularly known for its strong red wines: Barolo and Barbaresco. Because the wine producers like to drink a glass of wine with lunch, alternatives to these heavy tannin-rich powerhouses were sought. That is why the farmers often make a small amount of Moscato for personal consumption so that they can continue working after lunch. Moscato d'Asti is made from moscato grapes and is lightly sparkling. Because not all sugars have been converted into alcohol, this is a wine with a light sweetness and low alcohol, which makes it wonderfully fresh and drinkable.
