About the winemaker

"In 1979, George and Anne Kokotos founded Semeli Wines, initially in Attica. Soon they also acquired vineyards in Peloponnese. They have since retired and I have taken over. We have carried out many modernizations and working sustainably is very important to us. The moschofilero is the pride of the Peloponnese and I do my best to let this special grape shine in our Semeli Feast."

89/100 Punten - Decanter 2020
"Moschofilero is sometimes compared to Gewurztraminer in style, and you can really see that similarity here – this wine isn't backward in coming forward. The grapes come from vineyards at 650m altitude in the southern Peloponnese; the winters are very cold, and the harvest here is among the latest in Greece for white grapes, in early to mid-October. It's very aromatic, with notes of rose petal and citrus. Crisp, clean and exotic." (2019 vintage)

The history of the Peloponnese and wine goes way back: Homer already described the peninsula as 'Ampeloessa', which is ancient Greek for 'full of vines'. Today, it is still Greece's largest wine region. The landscape is undulating and the soil consists of sand and clay. On the Peloponnese, there are about 2,500 hectares of moschofilero grapes planted. This grape is sensitive to bad weather and therefore feels at home in the Greek heat. It is a white grape with a reddish skin, which gives aromatic wines. The wines can sometimes be compared to gewürztraminner or the Argentine torrontés. This Semeli Feast Moschofilero is rich in flavour with notes of lychee, honey and citrus.

Altijd heerlijk en fris, ruikt en smaakt fruitig zonder oppervlakkig te zijn.

Lychees all over! Not really my style, too much lychees and bit too acidic for my taste

Ruikt heerlijk en is erg fris en fruitig. Heel goede prijs-kwaliteit verhouding! Doet denken aan de Invivo wijn.

Kruidig en bloeding tegelijk, fris maar iets complexer dan een andere witte winn. Lekker bij Indonesisch eten.
