About the winemaker

"Our estate is situated 160 meters above sea level and extends to the hill of San Briccio, an ancient underwater volcano. The exceptional quality of our vineyards is due to the composition of the soil, which consists of sedimentary limestone, typical of the Valpolicella region, with occasional basalt outcrops. The vineyards face south and benefit optimally from the sun-drenched warmth of the day, which is cooled by a constant breeze and refreshed at night by the mountain wind. Ideal conditions for the perfect ripening of the grapes, resulting in powerful yet fine, elegant wines with mineral notes and a pleasant freshness."

In northern Italy, just above Verona, lies Valpolicella: a region with a long and well-documented winemaking history dating back to Roman times. Here, the Corvina, Rondinella, and Molinara grape varieties still form the basis of the wines. Within the region, Valpolicella Ripasso is known as a style that strikes a balance between freshness and power. By re-fermenting young Valpolicella wine on Amarone skins, more structure, ripe fruit, and spiciness are created. Within this landscape, the San Briccio hill stands out. This location owes its distinctive character to an ancient underwater volcano, the influence of which is still visible in the soil. The combination of basalt and limestone ensures good drainage and gives the wines a distinct, mineral tension. Additionally, San Briccio's higher elevation creates temperature differences between day and night. This helps to combine ripeness with freshness, which is essential for styles like Ripasso. The result is a wine that possesses depth and concentration, as well as precision and liveliness.
