Torre Vinaria Pecorino

Abruzzen, Italy
Pecorino
Pecorino! This is one of Italy's most interesting grapes. It seemed extinct until the 1980s, but thanks to its cheerful and mineralic character, the grape has been on the rise ever since.

About the winemaker

"As winemaker of Cantina Frentana, besides making the wine, I am also responsible for preserving history and tradition. That sense of history is reflected in the choice of grapes we use. These are all indigenous varieties like pecorino, montepulciano, cococciola and passerina. These grapes have been able to adapt to the climate for centuries and therefore thrive best in the vineyards of central Italy."

Goede bekende. Strak bittertje. Veel sap.

Abruzzen, Italy
Abruzzo is an Italian wine region in the central part of the country. This hilly and rugged region stretches from the Apennines to the rocky coastline of the Adriatic Sea. The combination of the cool mountain air with the warm air currents of the Adriatic Sea provide excellent viticultural conditions for pecorino grapes. According to tradition, this grape gets its name from the shape of the grape bunch, which resembles a sheep's head. It has some white pepper of grüner veltliner, the minerality of a young riesling and the fruit of a verdejo.

Licht geel.
