Villa Bibbiani Flora Rosato
Sangiovese
Winemaker Leopoldo bottles the Tuscan summer in a bottle! By ripening the local Sangiovese grape partly in amphorae, it not only bursts with ripe red fruit, flowers, and pink pepper, but is also delightfully fresh.

About the winemaker
Our winery is housed in a beautiful villa from the bygone Italian Renaissance. The cellar beneath even dates back to 1700. At that time, it was one of the most modern wine cellars in Italy, with storage tanks for running water and a heating system that could control the temperature in the cellar. Over time, these old, then-innovative techniques have been replaced by modern equipment. However, I do not shy away from manual work. I harvest by hand and also manually select the grapes for ripeness.

Toscane, Italy
Although Montalbano is primarily known for red Chianti, the same Sangiovese lends itself perfectly to a rosato. Wine has been made in this part of Tuscany for centuries: the Montalbano hills formed one of the original Chianti zones and are situated around Vinci, the village where Leonardo da Vinci grew up. Over time, the western slopes with their sandstone soils have defined the character of local viticulture: lighter, more aromatic, and more fruit-driven than in the rest of Chianti. That tradition of elegant Sangiovese wines forms the basis today for the modern rosatos from Montalbano, wines that are not only fresh but also a logical evolution of the long history of this region.
