About the winemaker

“Portuguese wines used to have the reputation of being robust, heavy wines with strong tannins. I'm glad to say that we have made great strides in improving quality. I find it challenging to work with different grape varieties. Each grape has unique characteristics that can complement each other perfectly. We have thoroughly analyzed our vineyards and replanted them with both international and indigenous grape varieties that are suitable for the sunny climate and can withstand the sea breeze. We also invest a lot of time in researching new varieties.”

8/10 punten - De Grote Hamersma 2020
Of vice versa zo u wilt.

Estremadura is a densely populated coastal area near Lisbon. Due to its proximity to the Atlantic Ocean, it enjoys a cool maritime climate with the beneficial influence of the wind on the vineyards. The Vista Nova vineyards are located in Alequer, about 50 kilometers north of Lisbon, on slopes ranging from 100 to 220 meters in altitude. At Casa Santos da Lima, they have a preference for indigenous Portuguese grape varieties, and this wine is no exception. Touriga nacional is the most famous of them, mainly known for its use in Port wine. This grape imparts body and deep fruity notes to the wine. Castalão contributes to the wine's smoothness, while camarate provides a balanced touch with some exciting spiciness.

Prima prijs kwaliteit verhouding.
