About the winemaker

Although the typical Vinho Verde wines have been produced for centuries, we decided to take a completely new path with Aphros. We were among the first in this vast region to adopt a biodynamic approach. We also make some wines that don't require any machinery, not even the pressing. As if that weren't enough, we also decided to experiment with other techniques. For example, we use not only steel tanks but also many concrete tanks to preserve even more freshness. Although other producers initially viewed us with some skepticism, the international wine press was fortunately quickly won over.

Vinho verde, Portugal
The DOC Vinho Verde is Portugal's largest wine region, stretching from the Minho River in the north to Porto in the south. It's actually a collection of several smaller sub-regions. Aphros is located in the Lima sub-region. Here, you'll find many different microclimates. For example, there's a strong influence from the Atlantic Ocean, but there are also more temperate areas higher up in the mountains. Although Lima traditionally grows many red grapes, the Loureiro grape is also well represented here. It's precisely in the areas where the oceanic influences are most pronounced that this grape variety truly shines. Aphros proves that wines from this grape variety aren't just suitable for aperitifs; they also offer a complex and more layered version.

Aphros Orange is bright and refreshing, like tasting a lemon sorbet. Light, crisp, and perfect for sunny days — the ultimate summer orange wine!

Mooi geproduceerd.
