About the winemaker

"The history of our winery dates back to the year 1624. Initially, the house served as a coach house, where horses could rest from a long journey, and the coachman could enjoy a good glass of house wine. For generations, the house remained in the hands of the Blankenhorn family until Rosie Blankenhorn couldn't find a successor within her family. In 2014, she passed it on to us, and since then, we have been working hard to ensure the continuity of this centuries-old history"

"Elegant cherry red with lightening towards the edges. On the nose, sour cherries, raspberries, violet blossoms, and white pepper. The palate offers abundant fresh red fruit flavors. It showcases elegance, invigorating acidity, and refined tannins. Pinot Noir pairs best with ham and cheese on baguette, veal fricassee with tomatoes and tarragon, and beetroot ravioli with herbs and cream cheese."

Baden, Germany
Due to its southern location, Baden is the warmest wine region in Germany. Weingut Blankenhorn is located almost exactly at the border triangle with France and Switzerland. The climate is comparable to that of French Burgundy, and Burgundy grapes such as Pinot Noir and Chardonnay do very well here. No less than 80% of Baden is planted with Pinot Noir, or as the Germans say: Spätburgunder. This grape likes the calcareous soil of Baden, which ensures a fairly light-footed style. Robust in its red fruit, but pleasantly soft in acidity and tannins.
