Bruno Murciano Parajes del Cabriel

Valencia, Spain
Bobal
Former top sommelier Bruno is giving the local bobal grape an international stage for the first time. Journalists agree: his wine is surprising, frivolous, full of red fruit and with the allure of a great wine.

About the winemaker

“My brother and I grew up in our parents' restaurant. It is not surprising that we subsequently ended up in the catering industry. My brother started working as a chef and I became a sommelier. In the end I was even named the best sommelier in Spain and the second best in the world. When my brother asked to make wine together, I didn't have to think about it for a second. I knew right away: we have to do this project.”

Valencia, Spain
As early as the 5th century AD, the Phoenicians planted the first vines in the area around Valencia. Yet the DOC has only existed since 1957. The area covers the entire Mediterranean coastline south of Barcelona. The soil here consists of a mix of lime, sand and clay. From the warm beaches the terrain gradually rises and the climate also takes on more continental features. Bruno Murciano's winery is located in Utiel-Requena, at an altitude of 850 to 950 meters above sea level. This gives the wines an unmistakably fresh style. The old vines also turned out to produce a special mix of old, unknown but local grape varieties. It is precisely because of this special mix of local grape varieties that Bruno Murciano's winery exudes the rich history and character of Valencia.
