About the winemaker

“Montsant has been my family's homeland for generations. It is a rural area, where people still have time for a conversation. They love this region, and you can feel it! I like to take a walk through the vineyards at sunset with the people I love, especially among the old vines. They stand on a clay and calcareous subsoil, this subsoil underlines the character of the grenache and carignan.”

8,5/10 punten - Frank Smulders (Master of Wine) - De Wijngids 2019
"Een wijn met een verleidelijk parfum van rijp blauw en rood fruit en een kruidige specerijentoets. Ook in de mond impressies van tijm en rozemarijn naast braam en bosbes, fijne tannine, voldoende zuren en wederom een peperig staartje."

Montsant, Spain
Although wine has been produced there for centuries, the Montsant was long a sub-zone of the much larger Tarragona area. However, the producers pointed out the unique circumstances of their home territory and in 2001 they were proven right; Montsant was recognized as a separate wine region. The vineyards in this area are located at high altitudes and are often planted on steep slopes to take full advantage of the sun. This Montsant consists largely of garnacha and cariñena. These grapes are then supplemented with a small percentage of syrah. Garnacha provides filling and juiciness, cariñena provides soft blue fruit and the syrah finishes it off with a dose of Spanish spiciness.

Stevig, vol, lekker. Zwaar. Niet echt veel hout. Klein beetje stroef. Wel erg prettig.

Oogt jong. Smaakt jong. Veel klein rood fruit (besjes , bramen. Soepel en vriendelijk. Gekoeld drinken bij pasta of lichte maaltijd. Geen wijn voor rood vlees. Kip kan wel.
