Croze-Granier Chateauneuf-du-Pape

Châteauneuf-du-pape, France
Grenache, Mourvèdre
Before opening, feel free to take a moment of reflection to enjoy this mythical wine with papal emblem. Not too heavy or ponderous in style, but rather a refined wine that matches perfectly with game, stew and aged cheeses.

About the winemaker

“Domaine Croze-Granier has been in our family for five generations. I am the current owner and winemaker, and I work with the same pride in the vineyards as my ancestors. I work the "sacred soil" of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. There are thousands, perhaps millions, of pure white stones in my vineyards (more on that later). I practice fully organic farming and deliberately choose a gentle style for Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Fermentation takes place in large concrete vats, and then the wine ages for 12 months in stainless steel. It's not a heavy and bulky style, but a refined wine that's perfect to drink!”

Opvallend hoge doordrinkfactor: Châteauneuf-du-Soif."

Châteauneuf-du-pape, France
The world-famous appellation Châteauneuf-du-Pape is named after the village of the same name in the Rhône Valley. The name is a literal translation of 'the new castle of the Pope.' The region is known for the large round stones and pebbles that cover the vineyards. These stones absorb the sun's heat during the day to keep the vineyards warm at night, acting like a blanket that allows the grapes to ripen further during the night. This refined style of Châteauneuf-du-Pape uses two different grape varieties, which is quite unique since Châteauneuf allows a total of 13 grape varieties (8 red and 3 white). The blend consists of 80% grenache and 20% mourvèdre. Grenache excels in sunny areas and produces wines in the Rhône with deep red fruit, a dark color, and a relatively high alcohol content. Mourvèdre adds spiciness and depth to the wine.
