Unfortunately, the cabernet franc grape is often forgotten, but sommeliers know better. The wines are super juicy, bursting with red fruit and fine pepperiness. So drink like a sommelier and drink cabernet franc!

About the winemaker

"Our small village of Bourgueil is one of the few areas in the Loire Valley that specializes in producing red wines from the Cabernet Franc grape. This grape has been cultivated here for hundreds of years. We are passionately dedicated to preserving this tradition, and as part of our efforts, we have even constructed a wine cellar beneath our winery, allowing us to be even closer to the art of winemaking."

Bourgueil is a small village in the Loire Valley, and it stands out as one of the few villages in the region specializing in the production of red wines. This tradition dates back a long time. According to a story, the Benedictine abbot Baudry is said to have ordered the transfer of the grape from Bordeaux to the local vineyards around the year 1100. However, the accuracy of this story is still a subject of debate, as the nearby village of Chinon claims that the grape only arrived in Bourgueil in 1631. Regardless of the historical details, in Bourgueil, wines must always be composed of at least 90% Cabernet Franc. Two wine styles essentially converge in the region: on one hand, there are the fruity, light red wines originating from gravel soils, and on the other hand, the so-called 'Tuffeau wines' that often undergo oak aging.
