About the winemaker
“There is a whole history behind our vineyards. For example, we regularly find bowls and dishes from Roman times while working, but we also regularly make finds from the Middle Ages. It has now become so much that we have set up a small museum at the winery. This way you can discover the history, with a glass of wine in your hand.”

Languedoc, France
In the French region of Languedoc, near the Pic de Vissou, you will find the vineyards of the village of Cabrières. The river Hérault flows right through the village. It winds down from the hills, across the coastal plain to the south and towards the Mediterranean Sea. People have lived here for much longer than our era. For example, iron ore mines have been found from thousands of years ago. Ultimately, it was the Romans who established the first vineyards in the area. Then came the Benedictine monks in the 8th century who really put the area on the map. Because of the locally famous, 480-metre-high Pic de Vissou, the vineyards form a natural amphitheatre. This gives the vines many hours of sunshine, but also manages to reach the vineyards with a relatively cool sea breeze.
