About the winemaker

"As a child, I used to accompany my father and grandfather to the vineyards. I knew that one day I would follow in their footsteps, but they encouraged me to explore other career opportunities first. I studied business administration and became a manager in the supermarket sector. In 2005, I succeeded my father as a winemaker and restored the old family wine cellars. When you walk through my vineyards, you can smell the garrigue. These are herbs that you find everywhere in the wild here. Thyme, rosemary, and lavender are the scents of Southern France that you can recognize in this wine.”

Languedoc, France
The vineyards in Languedoc are often compared to a patchwork quilt because there are so many different grape varieties planted together. It's all about creating the perfect blend. In this case, it's a blend of syrah, cinsault, and grenache. Syrah requires a lot of warmth to ripen beautifully, so it thrives in the Mediterranean climate, developing aromas of ripe blackberries, laurel, and pepper. These go well with the fresh fruit of cinsault. In the '70s and '80s, Languedoc was more focused on quantity than quality, and grenache was widely uprooted to make way for higher-yielding varieties like carignan. Fortunately, there has been a change in this trend in recent years, and the region has made significant investments in quality. Grenache is making a comeback, and in this wine, it complements syrah and cinsault with flavors of wild strawberries and dried herbs.
