Menard Gaborit Muscadet Pied sur Terre

Loire, France
Melon de bourgogne
Pied sur Terre is Muscadet as you rarely taste it: idiosyncratic, elegant and intensely mineral. For even more flavour and expression, winemaker Francois briefly soaks the skins with mee. The result? A top cuvée with allure.

About the winemaker

“Winemaking has been in my family’s blood for almost 300 years. As early as 1734, my first family members started working in winegrowing. In the meantime, my wife and I have just started our adventure as winemakers, the sixth generation. Our vineyards are located around the iconic mill of La Minière, in the heart of Monnières. The vineyards are even marked on the old cadastral plan of Napoleon III. Centuries have passed, but the mill is still there. And it is still the proud symbol of their winery.”

92 punten Wine Enthousiast
The wine is smoothly textured, showing ripe apples as well as crisper acidity. It is rich, dense with fine citrus at the end to give a vibrancy to the wine. Aromatic and full of energy.

Loire, France
The French Loire used to be a popular holiday destination for the Parisian nobility. They also built the castles that the region is now so famous for. In addition to these castles, there is much more to discover in this region, and of course we mean the wine! It is also the region of the Sancerre, Touraine Sauvignon Blanc, Chenin Blanc, Cabernet Franc and the sparkling Vouvray. The Muscadet, less known in the Netherlands, also comes from here. These refreshing wines are produced at the end of the Loire Valley, in the area around the city of Nantes. Here the vineyards are full of Melon de Bourgogne grapes. Because they are close to the Atlantic Ocean, a salty sea breeze blows along the vines. This results in wines with an almost salty minerality that goes perfectly with seafood. It is therefore not surprising that the French love it.
