About the winemaker

"During my internships, I worked throughout the country. At the end of my studies and internships, I truly understood the diversity of my home country. There are so many differences in every square meter in Chile. That's why I started my own venture, to let that diversity of Chile shine through in my vineyards.”

"The multi-grape, multi-location red blend 2013 Facundo comes from different valleys and grapes: Maule, Itata and Colchagua containing Carignan, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc. I found it superbly balanced, nuanced and insinuating, with a polished mouthfeel and very fine tannins. It's marked by the Carignan base, and the other grapes provide texture and acidity. It comes through as a very elegant yet powerful blend. This is a very fine vintage for this bottling. 12.873 bottles produced." (2013 vintage)

9/10 punten - Harold Hamersma - De Grote Hamersma 2019
"Druivenkwartetten. (2015 vintage)

Four different grape varieties are used for this Facundo. Carignan (39%) and cabernet franc (12%) come from the Maule Valley, specifically Loncomilla, a tributary. The carignan vines are 54 years old, and the vineyards are not irrigated, giving the wine a lot of concentration. The cabernet sauvignon (38%) comes from the Itata Valley, where the soil is mostly granite, providing a fresh touch to the wine. Petit verdot makes up 11% of the blend and comes from the Colchagua valley, contributing to the wine's deep color. The Facundo was aged for 24 months in French oak barrels.
