About the winemaker

"My winery is located in Villié-Morgon, the birthplace of natural wines. As the son of a winemaker, my passion started there. I learned the fundamentals of the craft from my father. Soon, I wanted to learn more about the soil, the wine, and nature itself. That’s why I set out to work at various wineries in the region and in the Jura. Today, I work alongside my brother back at our family estate."

91/100 punten - James Suckling
“A wonderfully perfumed Morgon that balances ripe fruit with focus and clarity. Aromas of mulberries, raspberries, blue flowers, spices and wet stones. The medium-bodied palate is powdery and supple, flowing with succulent ease before a dusty and minerally finish.”

Morgon is one of the ten Crus of Beaujolais, located around the village of Villié-Morgon in the northern part of the region. The appellation is known for its granite-rich soils, particularly on the slopes of the Côte du Py, which provide structure and depth. Only Gamay is grown here, a grape that was introduced by the Duke of Burgundy, Philip the Bold. He wasn’t particularly fond of Gamay, as he considered it a threat to his beloved Pinot Noir. Under the pretext of being “harmful to health,” he banned Gamay from Burgundy in 1395, sending it south to Beaujolais. Fortunately, his successors didn’t let that stop them, and today, fantastic wines are made from this grape.
