Vina Zorzal Navarra Graciano

Navarra, Spain
Graciano
The graciano grape occurs only very occasionally in Rioja, often in a blend. The three brothers of Vina Zorzal from Navarra choose to let this grape shine on its own in this wine: a rarity!

About the winemaker

“In 1989, our father Antonio started Vina Zorzal. In 2007, my two brothers and I took over the company. Of course, our father remains closely involved in his life's work. Our mission is to highlight indigenous grapes from our region. We create wines that let the grape and the terroir speak for themselves and that are affordable for everyone. We also work entirely ecologically.”

91/100 punten - Parker
"It's herbal and vibrant, with pungent aromas of bay leaf, spicy and very tasty. This strain of Graciano seems to deliver less color and body, and the wine shows it. This is medium-bodied and has very fine tannins, pungent acidity and a long and tasty finish. The herbs turning more into flowers with time in the glass."

Bright crimson. Fresh and fruity. Very clean and bracing. Likely to be GV.

Navarra, Spain
The wine region of Navarra is bordered by the Pyrenees to the north and the Ebro River to the south. The soil of the vineyards along the river consists of gravel with calcareous bedrock, which is ideal for winemaking. Navarra is divided into five subzones, with Ribeira Baja being one of them. This is where Vina Zorzal is located, specifically in the village of Corella. Graciano is a grape that originally comes from this region, but in Navarra, it now accounts for only 1% of the grape population. The grape also grows in the neighboring Rioja region, where it is blended with tempranillo for Gran Reserva wines. So, this 100% graciano is extra special!

Put it through a vino aerator, opening up the wine. Didn't experience the bitter or sour notes other reviewers have experienced. Dry with medium-body and slightly spicy finish.

Heerlijk! Fruitig, maar niet overdreven, geen wrange nasmaak. Favoriet!
