Jean-Marie Chaland
Winemaker Jean-Marie produces two Chardonnays in Viré-Clessé, in the south of Burgundy: Vieilles Vignes and Clos du Buc. On the limestone- and marl-rich soils here, Chardonnay truly comes to life.
Winemaker's words:
"My grandfather, Victor Chaland, began growing grapes in the 1930s. My father, Jean-Noël, took over in 1967 and produced the first wines of the estate. Our vineyards have long been managed and cultivated without herbicides, although we only received certification in 2003. I am convinced that respecting the soil allows for an even better expression of our terroir”
