Chaland Viré Clessé Vielles Vignes
In the south of Burgundy, in Viré-Clessé, the family of winegrower Jean-Marie has been making a dreamy Burgundy since the 1930s: oak-matured, rich and creamy, with notes of apple, acacia and roasted hazelnuts.

About the winemaker
"My grandfather, Victor Chaland, began growing grapes in the 1930s. My father, Jean-Noël, took over from him in 1967 and made the estate's first wines. Our vineyards have been managed and cultivated without herbicides for many years, although we only received certification in 2003. I'm convinced that respecting the soil allows us to express our terroir even better."

Bourgogne, France
Viré-Clessé, located in southern Burgundy, between Mâcon and Tournus, is one of those places where Chardonnay truly comes alive. This young appellation (established in 1999) unites the villages of Viré and Clessé. No prestigious crus here, but a characterful terroir that stands out from the rest of the Mâconnais. The marl, limestone, and white clay soils, rich in fossils, give the wines their ripe Chardonnay fruit and vibrant minerality. The high altitude, with good drainage and an easterly exposure, also creates tension and finesse.
