About the winemaker
Our village of Gumiel de Mercado has only 400 inhabitants, yet it attracts many tourists every year. They all come for the wine, because some of Spain's most famous wines are made here in Ribera del Duero. As young winemakers among all those renowned wineries, we strive to make true terroir wines: less oak aging and more freshness and fruit.

Ribera del duero, Spain
About a two-hour drive north of Madrid, in the heart of Castilla y León, lies Ribera del Duero, one of Spain's most famous wine regions. Wine has been cultivated here for 2,600 years on the banks of the Duero River. Due to its relative altitude—the vineyards are all between 700 and 1,000 meters—it remains relatively cool despite the abundance of sunshine. These are ideal conditions for viticulture. However, it hasn't always been a success story. Ribera del Duero is a true late bloomer. When it received Denominación de Origen (DO) status in 1982, there were only nine wineries in the area. Since then, Ribera del Duero has grown significantly. Due to the sharp rise in popularity of the Tempranillo grape, more vineyards were planted. Today, nearly 300 wineries have their roots in Ribera del Duero, with a total of almost 22,000 hectares of vineyards.
