About the winemaker

“For many years I was co-owner of the larger wine estate Abbaye Sylva Plana in the town of Laurens. But as a father of three I decided to take a smaller approach. That’s how Domaine Bon Augure came into being. The name means ‘prosperity’ and that’s exactly what I found here. Thanks to the higher altitude and cooler nights, this terroir is ideal for my favourite grape: Chardonnay!”

"Tight and green-apple-like without quite the depth of the more ambitious stablemate. Very pure even if not the most distinctive wine. I'd hate to be given this blind and have to guess its origins. Very encouraging."

Languedoc, France
In the heart of the Languedoc, the Orb river meanders between rolling hills and ancient villages. The valley may be less well-known than its big brothers such as Minervois or Corbières, but for wine lovers this is an area to discover. The soils here are as diverse as the landscape: from chalk and clay to pebbles and slate. In addition, the vineyards here are higher than the average in the region, which ensures cool nights and longer ripening of the grapes. Add to that a new generation of talented winemakers, often with an organic or biodynamic approach, and you have all the ingredients for a potentially top area.

Drama. Werd me aangeraden als vette, brioche chardonnay. Maar is vooral zuur…
