Bordet Petit Chablis 20th Anniversary Cuvee

Winemaker Jean-François owns some of the oldest vineyards in Burgundy. Specially for our anniversary, he crafted a Petit Chablis from his higher-altitude, limestone-rich parcels. The result is a wine to enjoy (almost) every day: fresh and mineral-driven, with refined aromas of apple and candied lemon.

About the winemaker

Winemaker Jean-François has become an indispensable part of the Grape portfolio. His wines rank among the very best of the region, so creating a special anniversary wine together felt like the most natural thing in the world. We are therefore more than delighted with this exceptional Petit Chablis, perfect for raising a glass together in celebration of our anniversary.

9/10 points - De Grote Hamersma
“A domaine proud to have some of the oldest vineyards in Burgundy in its portfolio. Records show that the first vine was planted on the estate in 1590 by the very first generation. We have now arrived at generation number thirteen — certainly not an unlucky number. The winemaker in charge is Jean-François Bordet, who is particularly devoted to the northern part of Burgundy: he serves as the chairman of the Chablis Wine Board, representing and defending the region’s colours all over the world. And in this case, those colours are always white. Specially for Grapedistrict’s twentieth anniversary, he created a Petit Chablis that performs on a grand scale. Uplifting juice, razor-sharp in style, bursting with crisp white fruit, a subtle hint of anise, a touch of fennel, and a chalky, crackling finish.”

Petit Chablis is the ideal introduction to the cooler limestone soils of Burgundy, located on the plateaus above the famous slopes of Chablis. In this area, Chardonnay reigns supreme on Portlandian limestone soils, which contain fewer fossils than the deeper layers but give the wines a remarkable freshness and accessibility; unlike Chablis, these wines are generally ready to drink at a younger age. Although the name “Petit” may suggest otherwise, the quality of these wines is often anything but small, thanks to the combination of a harsh climate and limestone-rich soils. The result is a pure and vibrant style with aromas of green apple, citrus, and a distinctive saline minerality. It is a wine that stands out for its structure and precision, with the absence of oak aging allowing the terroir and fresh fruit character to take center stage.
