Bruno Dangin Crémant de Bourgogne

Bourgogne, France
Chardonnay, Pinot noir
Until 1919, Bruno Dangin's vineyards belonged to Champagne. Since the reclassification, their winery lays within the borders of the north of Burgundy. Yet he makes insane sparkling wines here which are not inferior to their famous neighbours.

About the winemaker

“My father spent his childhood on the family estate in Champagne. This is also the place where he learned to make wine. When the opportunity came along to buy an old estate a few kilometers away, just in Burgundy, he decided to start his own business. Here we still work together to make the best sparkling wines. And let's face it, our bubbles are so delicious that it doesn't need the word Champagne  on the label?!"

"Le Grand Classique. A promise on the label in elegant curly letters. Does the content live up to it? A resounding 'yes' sounds, after having swallowed the first sip. That 'accidently swallowing instead of spitting it out' happens more often when tasting bottles that please us very much "Moreover, we were dealing with sparkling here, which is the only type of wine that is allowed and possible  to drink 24 hours a day. Especially this one from Bruno Dangin. Pure, savory and precise. Pleasant mousse, juicy white fruit, opening the acidic notes."

The winery Bruno Dangin is located in the municipality of Molesme. This is located in the very northern tip of the Côte d'Or, Burgundy, just 3 kilometers south of the river Aube, the border of the Champagne region. Before the reclassification in 1919, the grapes that grew here were also used in the production of the famous Champagne wines. However, after the First World War, the French government decided to set new rules for the production of Champagne. At that time, sparkling wines were predominantly sweet. As a result, farmers secretly added apple and rhubarb juice to the wine in order to produce cheaper. Stricter rules were also imposed on the municipalities within which Champagne could be produced. This eventually led to the AOC Champagne. The village of Bruno Dangin has since been located in the Burgundy wine region. No punishment at all, of course, because some of the best wines in the world come from here.

Topper kan geen champagne tegenop. Mooie smaak verveelt niet voor prijs kwaliteit meer dan goed. Niet alleen drinken met oud en nieuw 😜
