Château Cazebonne Feldspath Graves blanc

Graves, France
Sauvignon blanc
Jean Baptiste considers himself a pirate. In fact, he was the first to start working the famous Graves terroir organically. He also uses amphorae rather than wooden barrels. His wine is lively, juicy and full of fresh herbs.

About the winemaker

“Bordeaux has quite a dusty image. Instead of complaining about the poor market conditions, it's urgently necessary to ask ourselves: what wines do people actually enjoy drinking? We have very strict rules about the grape varieties we are allowed to use, but it's like telling a painter to limit themselves to primary colors on their palette. However, for this cuvée, I chose traditional Sauvignon blanc, but in a very new style."

Graves, France
To the south of Bordeaux, on the left bank of the Garonne, lies Graves. Wine enthusiasts simply refer to it as "the left bank." Graves owes its name to its soil composition. The gravelly and stony soil derives its name from "graveleux." It is one of the few areas in Bordeaux known for its white wines. These wines are made from Sauvignon blanc, semillon, muscadelle, or a blend of these varieties. Château Cazebonne is involved in a new project where they are also trying to reintroduce old, nearly extinct grape varieties. With this, they hope to shed the dusty image of Bordeaux and entice young wine drinkers to enjoy Bordeaux wines once again.
