About the winemaker

“In 1856 my family settled in the hills outside Bordeaux. I am the 6th generation to live and work here. When I took over the Chateau in 2005, I made an important decision. I decided to stop making bulk wines and focus on quality. To achieve this, I switched to organic farming and put scissors on my vines to drastically limit yields. I would describe the style of wine we make now as pure, pure and easily digestible.”

Bordeaux, France
Few wine regions have left their mark on the wine world as Bordeaux. Located in southwestern France, this region is often considered the epicenter of wine lovers. Today, the famous chateaus here boast wines made from merlot, cabernet sauvignon and cabernet franc grapes. But what many people don't know is that Bordeaux also has a long relationship with another grape variety, malbec. This grape was once a major player in Bordeaux wines and found its way to the region in the 18th century. Because he added a deep color, soft tannins and fruitiness to the wines, he quickly rose in popularity. This lasted until the great frost of 1956, which most malbec plants did not survive. After this, many farmers decided to replant the more reliable merlot. As a result, this grape slowly disappeared from the region and nowadays it is officially no longer allowed to be used in blends. Fortunately, more farmers are slowly bringing the grape back to the region. Then no Bordeaux on the label, but nice wine in the bottle.
