About the winemaker

“Château du Grand Bos has a rich history. Since the 16th century, the château belonged to the noble Crozilhac family, and in the 17th century it became a Carthusian monastery with its own vineyards. In the 20th century, winemaking came to a standstill, until my family restored all the vineyards in 1988. After studying vineyard management, I took over the estate and now work together with my mother and grandfather on the quality of our wonderful Bordeaux wines.”

Graves, France
In the south of Bordeaux, along the Garonne River, lies Graves: a region named after its gravelly soils (“graves” means gravel). It is one of the oldest wine areas in Bordeaux – wines were already being produced here in the Middle Ages and shipped to England via the river. Graves is not only famous for its red wines, but especially for its refined, fresh whites. They are made from Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon, sometimes with a small proportion of Muscadelle. The gravel and sandy soils give the wines tension and freshness, while ageing on the lees and sometimes in oak also adds their characteristic roundness and depth. Winemaker Lou decided to add a portion of Sauvignon Gris as well, for extra structure and freshness.
