Domaine Berthault Givry

The rare Givry wines have been a textbook example of white Burgundy since the 16th century. This also applies to this wine from winemaker David. His version is creamy, wood-matured and dangerously seductive with its beautiful acidity.

About the winemaker

“Domaine Berthault is primarily a family business, located on the edge of the village of Moroges. In this small hamlet you will find more vines than inhabitants, so we had no choice but to take over the domain from our parents. Because we are aware that our soil and terroir determine the quality of our wines, my sister and I do all the work in the vineyards completely manually. We do stick to our “family recipe” and we mature the wines in wood for at least a year.”

The term 'Burgundian' refers to the 15th century when the French royal house and the Dukes of Burgundy expanded their power to our Low Countries. They introduced a lifestyle of luxury and wealth, where one easily thinks of long dining with delicious food and fantastic wines upon hearing this term. It's no wonder that Burgundy is one of the most famous wine regions in the world. The Cote Chalonnaise is a particularly special part of Burgundy. It lies between the Côte de Beaune in the north and the Mâconnais just to the south. Due to the hilly landscape, it is slightly drier here than in most other areas. Additionally, the vineyards are spaced slightly farther apart. Thanks to this unique microclimate, the chardonnay grape reveals its most aromatic side here.
