About the winemaker

“When the poet Charles Baudelaire published his collection of poems 'Les Fleurs du Mal' in 1857, he was immediately arrested for violation of public morals. When making this wine, I was inspired by the now world-famous collection of poems and made a seductive rosé. For now I am free…”

Maurice barnouin

Preutse Fransen
Fun fact: it took until 1949 for the ban on the publication of Les Fleurs du Mal to be lifted. And we  think that the French are not prude...

Cévennes, France
The Cévennes is located in the Gard department, just above the city of Nîmes. Where in the rest of France strict rules hinder innovation, people here dare to leave the beaten track. That is why this rosé is also an experiment that works out well. No fewer than six different grape varieties have been used for this rosé. The famous French grapes Merlot, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Grenache Noir and Mourvèdre. The most striking in the blend is the sangiovese grape. You will find them almost exclusively in Italy. It is understandable that winemaker Maurice chose this variety. Naturally, the sangiovese has a high acidity. In the warm Cévennes, it gives this wine its important freshness.
