Terra alta, Spain
Although it is a large wine region, this appellation is relatively unknown to most wine lovers. However, wine has been produced here for over 1000 years. Although it only received its own D.O. status in 1972. Terra Alta is the southernmost and, as the name suggests, highest D.O. region of Catalonia. The vineyards are on average 400 meters high on the plateau of the province of Tarragona. The beauty of nature was a source of inspiration for painter Picasso who painted various landscapes and buildings here.
