About the winemaker

"I met my wife Sylvaine while studying oenology. Together we started in southern Burgundy in Solutré, Chaintre, Prisse, Igé and La Roche with a 'métayage contract.' This involves paying the landlord in wine. Fortunately, the contract is now paid off and we can export our wines."

"Stro in de zomer. Heeft het zachte zuidelijke en mild tropische dat de Mâcon karakteriseert, het houvast van de roche, romige rondingen en de frisheid van een afdaling heuvelafwaarts, tussen de wijnranken door. Luxe Bourgogne zonder pretenties. Da’s ook Mâcon." (2017 vintage)

The Mâcconais is the southernmost wine region of mythical Burgundy on the banks of the Saône River. If you follow the river a few kilometers south, you'll enter the Beaujolais. Because of its calcareous soil, the white Bourgognes are especially interesting, as they show a lot of minerality and fresh aromas. The Mâconnais is a real transition area between the north and south of France. This is mainly expressed in language, architectural style and climate. In fact, it actually is a bit warmer than the more northern Burgundy regions, but the all-rounder, chardonnay, can withstand this just fine. This warm style from chardonnay from Mâcon has received a hefty one-year oak aging, partly (15%) in new wooden barrels and the rest in 6-year-old barrels. Despite the oak aging, this style of chardonnay still manages to retain its beautiful acidity.
