About the winemaker

“When I and my brother took over the family estate from our parents, we decided that enough was enough; we stopped selling our grapes and started making wine ourselves. Our approach was immediately different from that of other winemakers in the area. We decided to make wine the “Burgundian way”, i.e. with ripening on the lees. We soon realized that we were different, but that we would be like this. We had no choice, because we had studied in Beaune. We never expected that our wines would be so popular with this. I am now nowhere without my sons, who are eager to take over.”

Proefnotitie van wijninkoper Teun
"Frisse aroma's van framboos, kersen en een hint van mineralen. Krokant en levendig met een fijne structuur. Ik zou hem schenken bij gegrilde tonijn!"

Sancerre, France
Nowhere does the Sauvignon blanc grape produce wines of such quality as in the region around the small French village of Sancerre, in the Loire Valley. The Reverdy family makes wine in the neighboring village of Maimbray, which is also called Terre Blanche (white earth) because of the white chalky soil that gives the wines their mineral character. Sancerre is one of the easternmost appellations in the vast Loire Valley and therefore actually has a different climate than, for example, in Anjou or around Nantes. The climate here is semi-continental with short, hot summers and long, cold winters. The combination of the soil and the climate gives the wines their typical refined, fresh character that you will not find in Sauvignon Blanc anywhere else.
