About the winemaker

"I help wineries in the Languedoc, such as Domaines Auriol, switch to organic viticulture. That's a lot of regulation and an expensive investment. Not only do I look for alternatives to chemical pesticides, I also look for the perfect grape varieties that will do best in the vineyards and can flourish in the new biodiversity. Winemaker Bertrand then turns them into great wine!"

Weetje van onze inkopers Seth en Laurence
The conversion to organic viticulture takes three years. At Domaines Auriol, they are now working hard to get this European organic certification. On this wine, you will find a Haute Valeur Environnementale certification. This French label guarantees biodiversity within the vineyards and the greatest possible respect for nature. Last year, the number of French wineries with this label increased by 47%!

Pays d’oc, France
The southern French Pays d'Oc has recently emerged as one of France's most interesting wine regions. In the last century, this region was known as the home of cheaply produced bulk wines that you can still often find on the bottom shelves of the supermarket. Since then, that reputation has been turned 180 degrees by many small family-run wineries. In fact, in the Pays d'Oc you will find many different microclimates and soils, which offer winemakers a lot of potential to make great wine. Whereas many French wine regions are stuck with strict rules and tradition, in here the world is at your feet. Claude has selected four different grape varieties for this wine; marsanne, roussanne, sauvignon blanc and vermentino. The marsanne and roussanne are two firm grape varieties that provide body to this wine. The vermentino (or in southern French; rolle) as well as the sauvignon blanc are responsible for the wine's aromatic character.

Degelijk. Houtig, tikkie metalig, zuurtje. Niet bijzonder complex. Prima ondersteunende wijn bij het diner, niet zozeer een wijn om op zichzelf van te genieten.
