Côtes du tarn, France
Côtes du Tarn is a small wine region in the sunny southwest of France. There are quite a few indigenous grape varieties in the vineyards here, such as mauzac, loin de l'œil and muscadelle. This trio used to be widely planted. The phylloxera put an end to this. After this pandemic, many vineyards had to be replanted. Then the more resistant sauvignon blanc grape was increasingly chosen. This was tolerated for a long time, but since 2007 farmers are also officially allowed to use sauvignon blanc in the blend. Winemaker Olivier, however, belongs to a new movement of farmers. They work mostly organically and work hard to show that tradition and innovation go hand in hand. As a result, the old varieties are secretly enjoying a great revival!
