Champagne André Chemin Brut Tradition

Champagne, France
Pinot noir
This is champagne 'Blanc de Noirs' in it's ultimate form! Because Sébastien uses only the juice of the blue pinot noir, you taste not only the world-famous freshness and minerality - but also a lot of power and structure.

About the winemaker

“My grandfather and grandmother started this small Champagne house in the village of Sacy in 1948. The Champagnes my family made only really got their name during the annual '12 Heures Internationales de Reimes', a car race where the upper class of Paris came to flaunt. That, of course, included Champagne! The circuit was almost in Grandpa André's backyard. The news that day was that we make great Champagne! It spread like wildfire and we still make great Champagne today!”

"Attractive baked apple, white chocolate and butterscotch nose with brioche and almonds. Rich and intense flavours of baked apple, brioche, toast and bread crust with fresh acidity. Very complex, long finish. Great wine!"

Winegrowers all over the world try to copy the style of the Champagne region, but it's impossible. The thick chalk layer on which the grapes grow gives Champagnes its unique, mineral character. This surface also retains the heat well, so that the grapes ripen well. The most common grape varieties in Champagne are chardonnay (white), pinot noir and pinot meunier (both blue). Winemaker Sébastien Chemin only uses his blue pinot noir grapes for this Blanc de Noir Champagne (white of black). He does not soak the skins of his grapes with the must (the juice of the grapes), so that they do not release dyes and the Champagne remains golden yellow.
